Dr. David Anders Conversion to Catholicism

  1. Dear Dr. Anders,
I too was raised conservative Evangelical, though I went to, and later taught at Moody Bible Institute and taught music at Trinity, what is now TIU in Deerfield (really Bannockburn, IL) and I live in Chicago now. But I am the only one in my family, so far, who has converted to the Roman Catholic Church, and that was in 1990, so I'm celebrating 20 years as a Catholic. You'll get to celebrate 7 years this November. But I went through some of the same contortions and agony as you in having my childhood faith and theology turned upside down and inside out by the truth of the true Church. I'm grateful now and still seek to go deeper in purifying my mind and soul with the Truth, who is our Lord Jesus, acting through His beloved bride, THE Church. People in the church where I converted, St. Ita's, have been helpful the whole way, and your article in the CHN newsletter was particularly helpful. Thanks for your insights.

  2. This is such an inspring testimony and witness to Truth. Dr. Anders, you are brilliant and your story is lovely.

For me, 5.5 years ago, when I had my 'heart/soul' conversion to the Catholic faith, and returned to full Communion in the Church, (after reading 3 books one weekend!) it was like I'd been seeing through a glass darkly and then the grace of God just drenched me, to overflowing, and opened my closed eyes to see, my deaf ears to hear the Truth about the One Church Jesus founded, and instantly dropped all my bias against her and craved to be Catholic...to the core! It's been challenging at times, painful to lose some friends, but delightful to gain 100 fold more. To have been so blessed to go to Rome w/ Scott Hahn and Mike Aquilina 3 years ago was certainly a "high point" but just being back in the One True Church is the reason I'm most grateful and joyful these days. Truth is all that can satisfy us, for we're created to know and truly love nothing less!

God bless you and your family.
